EPD and How to Publish
EPD is a verified and registered document that communicates transparent and comparable information about the life-cycle environmental impact of products.
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is environmental declaration in accordance with the ISO 14025 standard. It provides objective, transparent, and third-party verified information about the environmental performance of a product or service throughout its life cycle. An EPD is based on a life cycle assessment (LCA) methodology according to ISO 14040 and 14044, conducted in accordance with Product Category Rules (PCRs). LCA enables manufacturers to assess environmental impacts throughout the product's entire life cycle, from raw material extraction, production, and use phase to end-of-life management. All EPDs registered in the International EPD System are publicly available and free to download via the EPD Library.
Process of EPD Registration
Six steps take a product from a first enquiry to a published declaration.
- STEP 1
Contact Us
Tell us about the product you want to declare. We will confirm that it fits the programme and explain what the process involves.

- STEP 2
Check PCR Availability
Every EPD follows the Product Category Rules (PCR) for its product type. Check the PCR library to see whether a PCR already covers your product.
If unavailableDevelop a New PCR
If no PCR covers your product yet, one can be developed. Talk to the EPD Türkiye secretariat before you go any further.
- STEP 3
Perform the LCA (based on the PCR)
Carry out the life cycle assessment in line with the PCR, following ISO 14040 and 14044, and compile it into an EPD according to the programme's general instructions.
- STEP 4
Look for Independent Verifiers
Your EPD must be checked by a verifier approved by the International EPD System. They work independently of the secretariat — EPD Türkiye cannot verify your declaration.
- STEP 5
Verification
The verifier checks the assessment, the data behind it and the draft declaration against the PCR. Registration cannot begin before sign-off.
- STEP 6
Registration and Publication
Submit the verified declaration through the EPD Portal. It is then published in the library, free to download. The publication date is the submission date.
