Reinforced
autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) elements are lightweight, mineral-based
building components manufactured using a mixture of sand, cement, lime, gypsum,
water, aluminum paste, and embedded steel reinforcement. During production, a
chemical reaction generates millions of air pores, forming a material with
excellent thermal insulation and low density. The inclusion of reinforcement
allows these elements to be used in load-bearing or long-span structural
applications where enhanced mechanical performance is required. This EPD is a
representative EPD for reinforced AAC elements and covers the product class
G3/500. Within the assessed product group, densities range from a minimum of
450 kg/m³ to a maximum of 550 kg/m³. For modelling in this study, a product
with a density of 500 kg/m³ was selected as the declared product. This
selection does not imply that the 500 kg/m³ product represents other densities
within the group; it is simply the specific product modelled within the scope
of the representative EPD.

particularly in structural and semi-structural applications.
